Changing Printer Toner

Best Practices

• Mark toner boxes appropriately, e.g. clearly label new ones “FULL”.
• Handle the large cartridges carefully, holding them by the blue handles and do not invert them.
  • Failure to do so may cause toner to spill out, which will cause a mess and is not especially healthy to breathe in. To clear up any spillages, wipe up with a cold damp cloth. Do not use hot water as this will permanently fuse the toner, and do not use a vacuum cleaner as the toner-air mixture can easily ignite and even in the best case will clog the vacuum’s HEPA filter.
• Place used cartridges in an empty bin bag and tie it, with one cartridge per bag.
• As above, if you need to wash your hands afterwards, do so with cold water.

Office Printer

1. Open the flap at the top.
2. Remove the old cartridge at a ~45 degree angle (a reasonable amount of force and wiggling is required).
3. Insert a new one in its place.
4. Close the hatch and send a document to check that it works.
5. In the printer options, select "LOW TONER - NO" (WIP).

Proj. Box Printer

1. DO NOT KNOCK THE PROJECTOR.
2. Move the posters in front of the printer away from the "Classically Forbidden Zone".
3. Pull down the front of tray 1.
4. Lift up the top front panel of the printer.
5. Pull down the next front panel of the printer.
6. Holding the green tabs, pull down the final front panel of the printer, holding the green tabs at the sides. This should reveal the toner cartridges.
7. Pull the empty cartridge out straight.
8. Replace it in the same way, with the curved edges of the blue handles pointing down.
9. Close up the panels in reverse order and switch the printer back on.
