Welcome to the IT Team! This page describes how you can get started with the IT team at Warwick Student Cinema.

1. Purchase WSC Membership

As Warwick Student Cinema is part of Warwick SU, everyone is required to have membership with the society before joining crew by going to https://www.warwicksu.com/societies-sports/societies/filmsoc/#org-join. When you join, you'll also get a free film - simply tap your card at our tills before a screening to get this!

2. Register WSC Website Account

Register a WSC Website Account at https://warwick.film/system/login/newuser, entering your University ID. You must have purchased membership before doing this, and then make sure to check your junk mail folder if you don't see the confirmation email.

3. Request Accounts from IT Officers

Ask Josh or Adam (in person, on Slack or itofficer@warwick.film) for:

  • Crew status on your website account. This will allow you to login to the wikiand attend films with a friend for free. You can confirm you have this if you have access to https://warwick.film/rotas/main.
  • A FilmSoc desktop computer account - this is used to login to our computers and to services like GitLab.
  • An invite to the FilmSoc Slack workspace (and then join the #it and #website channels).

You will need to provide us with an email to do this.

4. Login to Wiki

Login to the wiki and then ask Josh or Adam (in person or in Slack) to add IT-Private permissions on your Wiki account. This will allow you to access private pages on the wiki. (IT Officer Admin Link)

5. Login to GitLab

Login to GitLab and then ask Josh or Adam (in person or in Slack) to add you to the WSC group (IT Officer Admin Link).

6. Read IT Team Wiki Page

Read the IT Team page to see what we do and how the team operates.

7. Add Yourself to IT Team Member Wiki Page

Read the IT Team Members page and add yourself and what you can bring to the team (you must have been given IT-Private permission first).

Optional: IT Tour

If you haven't already seen our office and server rack, you can ask Josh or Adam to give you a quick tour in L3.
